Trillium Herbal Company is Certified by OCIA (Organic Crop Improvement Association). The certification is your assurance that we do things RIGHT at Trillium. There is no legal oversight of the use of the word "organic" in personal care at this time. That means that many companies are indiscriminately using the word on products that include all kinds of synthetic and inorganic ingredients. The certification means that Trillium handles all of it's procurement, processing, storage, and labelling in accordance with the USDA NOP (The US National Organic Standards for Organic Food production). Every ingredient designated Organic (OG) has been grown, harvested, processed without the use of GM seeds, pesticides, petroleum derived solvents, or any other synthetic or synthesized process. Every ingredient designated "NATURAL" is approved for use in Organic Products. There is a short list of natural ingredients that are approved for use in products that are properly labelled ORGANIC. None of those ingredients are solvent (synthetic petroleum) extracted, nor irradiated to kill pests, nor grown with the use of sewage sludge as fertilizer, nor grown from Genetically Modified Seed stock (GMO).
